Recanati is the town where Giacomo Leopardi was born and spent the formative years of his life.
His family palace, his father’s library, the streets of the historic centre and the surrounding hills shaped an environment that profoundly influenced his way of observing the world.
Here not only his most famous verses took shape, but also the philosophical vision that runs through all of Leopardi’s work: the relationship between the individual and infinity, between desire and limitation, between nature and time.
Recanati still preserves the urban and social fabric observed by the poet: artisan shops, panoramic viewpoints and a daily life unfolding at the same human scale.
LetteraTour was created to accompany travellers into this human landscape, where poetry takes shape through the observation of everyday life.
Theatrical guided tours through Leopardi’s places
Multimedia itineraries exploring L’Infinito through images, sounds and texts
Wine tastings and gourmet dinners inspired by 19th-century cuisine
Conviviality and slow travel, to truly inhabit the places you journey through
Expert-led guidance through an engaging and accessible cultural narrative
The LetteraTour Giacomo Leopardi experience unfolds through walks, stops at key places and moments of conviviality in the poet’s “native wild village”.
The days follow a slow rhythm, allowing time to observe, pause and let the places speak for themselves. Visits are led by expert cultural guides who accompany the group through Leopardi’s places with a clear and accessible narrative.
When included, theatrical readings take place directly in the spaces that inspired the texts, without staging, as a natural part of the journey.
Meals and tastings are an integral part of the journey, just as important as the visits themselves.
Sitting at the table, tasting local wines and sharing time over a meal completes the discovery of Marche culture in a simple and authentic way.
LetteraTour Giacomo Leopardi is a cultural journey in the Marche region designed for small groups.
The itinerary weaves together historical storytelling, theatrical interpretation, multimedia experiences, gastronomy, tastings and convivial moments, following a coherent narrative thread throughout the entire experience.
Each day is conceived as a chapter of a story, in which Recanati is not a backdrop,
but the true protagonist.

An open moment designed to observe the village at a gentle pace and build a personal connection with its spaces.
Lunch is served in a historic trattoria, where traditional 19th-century cuisine is reinterpreted through dishes inspired by the historical and human context in which Leopardi lived.

In the afternoon, the journey continues with a visit to the multimedia itinerary dedicated to the poem L’Infinito, introducing Leopardi’s poetic vision through images, sounds and words, and offering an accessible yet profound interpretation of the text.

This is where the LetteraTour journey comes to an end.
To experience Recanati through a fresh perspective, following in the real footsteps of Giacomo Leopardi
To trace the poet’s legacy through his works, the landscape and everyday life
To combine cultural travel, emotion and taste
To reconnect with literature, beauty and reflection
Because it is a truly unique and unrepeatable experience
LetteraTour Giacomo Leopardi is designed for travellers seeking an authentic cultural journey, far from the logic of rushed visits and tightly scheduled programmes.
It is a tailor-made experience: small groups, a careful balance between activities and free time, and dining experiences selected with care. Literature, landscape and cuisine are experienced in harmony, as profound expressions of the same territory.
Why it is different
It is built around Leopardi’s real places, not an abstract narrative: the village, the hills and the spaces of his daily life are an integral part of the experience.
Literature is lived in the places themselves, through readings and interpretations that restore meaning to the texts without turning them into spectacle.
The rhythm is slow and measured, without rushing from one stop to the next, with attention focused on what truly matters.
Food and wine culture is part of the story, through historic trattorias, local wines and a cuisine that dialogues with the human and cultural context of the Marche region.
Groups are kept small to ensure quality, attentive listening and a genuine relationship with the places visited.
Choosing LetteraTour means choosing a journey that leaves room for memory and for a deeper connection with the land.
The journey begins with a theatrical guided tour through the historic centre of Recanati.
A two-hour walking route through narrow streets, squares and symbolic places of Leopardi’s life and poetry, led by a professional cultural guide.
At selected points along the route, an actor brings the poet’s texts to life directly in the places that inspired them, allowing travellers to understand them within their original human and urban context.
Literary word and physical space intertwine, transforming the walk into an experience of listening, presence and connection with the village.
In the late afternoon, a sunset guided visit is scheduled at the Orto sul Colle dell’Infinito, a heritage site managed by FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano.
The itinerary retraces the history of the former Monastery of Santo Stefano and its garden: from the arrival of the Poor Clare nuns in the 16th century, through the Napoleonic suppression of 1810, to the restoration and enhancement works
promoted by FAI.
The visit offers insight into the evolution of the garden as a place of quiet contemplation, agricultural biodiversity and symbolic landscape, now restored to its original spirit.
The experience concludes with a sunset aperitivo, enjoyed outdoors while watching the light slowly fade over one of the most evocative panoramas in Italian literature.
Before entering the garden, guests visit the National Centre for Leopardi Studies, where a five-part multimedia experience has been created.
Guided by the voices of Lella Costa and Massimo Popolizio, the narrative leads visitors into the poem L’Infinito, helping them understand its universal value through images, sounds and words.
At the end of the multimedia journey, guests enter the Orto sul Colle dell’Infinito equipped not only with historical knowledge, but above all with the emotional tools needed to fully experience its atmosphere, ideally following in Giacomo Leopardi’s footsteps.
On the afternoon of the first day, guests may take part in a wine tourism experience in the Marche region at the Garofoli winery, one of the most historic, prestigious and representative estates of the territory.
The experience leads the group on a narrative journey through family heritage and vineyard landscape, telling over a century of Marche wine history through
the language of wine.
The visit concludes with a guided tasting of selected labels, conceived as a moment of listening and sensory rediscovery, in dialogue with a territory that stretches
between hills and sea.
Private transfers to and from Recanati are arranged to ensure comfort and continuity throughout the experience.
The LetteraTour gourmet dinner is hosted at Casa Bertini, a Michelin-starred restaurant and an outstanding expression of contemporary Marche fine dining.
In an intimate and elegant atmosphere, the cuisine reinterprets local ingredients and traditions through technique, research and meticulous attention to raw materials.
The table thus becomes a space of sharing and memory, completing the story of the territory through taste.
LetteraTour Giacomo Leopardi is a cultural travel concept in the Marche region, designed for travellers who wish to experience culture
in the very places that generated it.
An itinerary that crosses Recanati following the poet’s human and literary landscape, weaving together words, hills and cuisine as parts of a single narrative.
A journey that restores depth to the travel experience, far from the rhythms of standard tourism, and offers a different way of discovering the Marche: through the lens of poetry and everyday life.
This cultural and food & wine journey in the Marche region is designed for thoughtful travellers interested in authentic and culturally meaningful experiences.
It is ideal for those who love literature experienced in its places, for those who see cuisine as an expression of a territory’s history, and for those who choose landscape as a space for observation and reflection.
LetteraTour is for travellers who seek understanding, not simply to collect destinations.
